Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion For PS3
February 18, 2008
With the Xbox 360 and PC version of the game getting the first expansion pack, Shivering Isles, next month, the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion package for the Playstation 3 is to be released in March as well. The game looks exponentially better, so it appears to have been worth the wait for PS3 owners. Some screenshots below (click to enlarge):
Sonic RPG: Dark Brotherhood Details
January 17, 2008
Whirling to a DS near you, Nintendo Power has finally given up the goods regarding Sonic’s first RPG, originally reported back in August. Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, produced by BioWare (of Mass Effect fame), has finally been announced. It features 11 party members–all your favorites–including Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Big the Cat and, of course, the main man himself: Sonic. It purports to be a turn-based RPG utilizing the unique touch screen ability of the DS.
The story so far: Sonic is having a well-deserved vacation after scrambling Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik for the umpteenth time. Tails gives him a ring and lets him know that Knuckles has been kidnapped by a new group called the “Marauders.” The interesting twist is that this is not an evil scheme hatched by Robotnik, but the entirety of the plot remains a mystery.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
January 9, 2008
Announced back in September by Square-Enix, not much information has become available about this title yet. It will be released for the Sony PSP handheld system on unspecified dates in Japan and North America.
Story details are scarce but the game is confirmed to take place many years before the original Kingdom Hearts title.
RPG Maker VX English Coming Soon
January 9, 2008
Enterbrain, the creators of the RPG Maker software series, has announced the upcoming English release of RPG Maker VX. The Japanese version was released late last month in Japan.
The RPG Maker series is famous for the ease of use that allows thousands of game creators to take advantage of its easy to use engine in the creation of fully functional RPG games. While specific information is still difficult to come by, VX promises to retain all of the functions and features found in RPG Maker XP while adding better-defined graphics, more functionality and an even easier interface.
More details as they become available!
Final Fantasy IV: The After
January 4, 2008
Final Fantasy is a series that has made a point to include a entirely new world and storyline with each game released in the series. Save for running themes such as the name “Cid” and the beloved chocobo, a sequel has only been created once in the form of Final Fantasy X-2, a game that continued the story of Yuna and her (female) friends from Final Fantasy X.
Despite the apparent rarity of Final Fantasy sequels, Square-Enix has just announced the upcoming release of Final Fantasy IV: The After, a game that focuses on the events following the trip to the moon in Final Fantasy IV.
Final Fantasy 4: The After follows the story of Theodore, none other than the son of Cecil and Rosa. Appearances by Yang, Cecil, Rosa, Edge and Kain have been confirmed by Square though little else is known about the storyline at this point.
The big (and very disappointing) catch? The game is being developed exclusively for mobile phones with no planned release on popular consoles or handhelds. Japanese gamers will be able to play the game in chapter format, downloading new chapters as they become available. Whether the game will ever see North America is unknown for now but, if Before Crisis is any indication, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
